MBABANE– Green Mamba is all set to embark on an exciting journey as they depart for Mozambique today.
This marks the first leg of the CAF Champions League 1st Preliminary Round, where they will face off against the formidable Mozambican side, UD Songo. The highly-anticipated match is scheduled to take place on Sunday, 20th August at 1500hrs in the iconic Estadio Nacional do Zimpeto.
In a show of support and encouragement, the Eswatini Football Association held a special send-off ceremony at the Lobamba Technical Centre, where they received well wishes . The entire team, comprising 21 skilled players, alongside their dedicated coaching staff, and other officials will then embark on their journey to Mozambique.
Excitingly, Green Mamba has received a major lift ahead of this crucial encounter. Mxolisi Mkhonto, a talented player from Green Mamba who has been recently seen with Royal AM in the recent KZN premier cup, has been released to join Green Mamba for this significant match. Once Royal AM has resolved their transfer ban issues, Mkhonto will return to his parent club. Royal AM, unfortunately, faced a ban from FIFA for registering international players, making this partnership even more meaningful for both teams.
