MBABANE – Have you exercised your constitutional right and registered for the 2023 General Elections?

This is the begging question as there is only one day left before the deadline for registration.

The number of people who have registered for the 2023 General Elections is fast approaching the half a million mark as 446 118 emaSwati registered to date.

This means 21 886 people registered yesterday. By close of business on Sunday, 424 232 people had registered.

The figures were confirmed by the Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) Communications Officer, Mbonisi Bhembe.

He also mentioned that EBC was not not considering an extension of the registration.

In response, Bhembe said they were targeting that all people who qualified to register should do so.

There were 240 852 females and 205 266 males who had registered by close of business yesterday.

“Those who would have not registered after we had done all this would be those who had not wanted to register. At the moment, those who want to vote should go and register as we have one  day  to go and those who have a stance not to partake in elections should reconsider,” Bhembe said.

He said those who were not willing to partake should reconsider, as this was a democratic process.
