PIGGS PEAK – In the spirit of Nkwe, the Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture (ENCAC) has hit the ground running with adding more activities in the Hhohho Region.
The Hhohho Arts Centre will celebrate Africa Day in style at the debut Hhohho Streets Arts Fest on May 24. The festival will be held at Pigg’s Peak Mortuary Road, below the Government hospital. It is expected to kick off at 10am and end at 4pm. The theme is, ‘Africa Day celebration.’ This was confirmed by Hhohho Arts Officer Nokwanda Masimula.
When reached for comment, Masimula said, “We will be celebrating culture. It will be a celebration of Africa Day,where cultural troupes will partake,like Ummiso and Sibhaca. We will also have a poetry session, a fashion show, and live music from artists.”
It is worth mentioning that Africa Day is on May 25.
Yesterday, the ENCAC invited aspiring dancers as well as theatre artists to attend auditions for the Drama and Dance School Festival, which will be held at the Gobolondlo Hall in Pigg’s Peak. The auditions will be held on May 2. It is expected to kick off from 9am to 3pm.
The auditions are presented by the Hhohho Arts Centre for an upcoming festival, KwaZulu World Carnival. It will take place in South Africa at KwaZulu Natal (KZN) in Durban on May 25.
It is worth mentioning that the same callout was made to aspiring dancers and drama artists around Buhleni and surrounding places. The auditions will be held on May 3 at Buhleni Plaza. It is expected to kick off from 9am to 3pm.
