MBABANE – His Majesty King Mswati III has appointed Deputy National Commissioner Lydia Dlamini to be the Acting National Commissioner (NATCOM) for the next four months.

It has been gathered that a notice titled ‘Re: Royal Appointment’ has been issued to all regional headquarters, police stations and posts on Wednesday.

The notice from the NATCOM’s Office stated that it pleased His Majesty King Mswati III and National Commissioner-In-Chief of RESP to appoint Lydia Dlamini, the senior Deputy National Commissioner of police as the Acting NATCOM with effect from November 1, 2023 to February 28, 2024.

This was confirmed by Deputy Police Information and Communications Officer Inspector Nosipho Mnguni yesterday. Dlamini is said to be Acting NATCOM for a four-month term.

The appointment of Dlamini follows the passing away of former NATCOM William Tsitsibala Dlamini who was reported to have lost consciousness and passed on while at OR Tambo International Airport in the Republic of South Africa in October 2023.
