MBABANE – His Majesty King Mswati III has appointed a new governor of the Central Bank of Eswatini. This announcement was made today by Prime Minister Sipho Cleopas Dlamini during a press conference.
His Majesty also appointed 3 new Principal Secretaries for government ministries, and redeployed two to new positions. The new appointments are Phesheya David Dube, who is now the PS at the Ministry of ICT, Newman Sizwe Ntshangase at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Sydney Boy Simelane at the Ministry of Agriculture.
Makhosini Mndawe has been reappointed to the Ministry of Labour, and Melusi Masuku has been redeployed to the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office.
His Majesty appointed Philemon Fana Mnisi as Central Bank Governor. He is expected to begin his duties on the 1st of July, for a period no more than 5 years.
Mnisi is an experienced banker and strategist. He is the current CEO of Eswatini Sugar Association and his previous positions include CEO of Standard Bank Swaziland, Assistant Governor of the Central Bank of Swaziland and CEO of Institute of Bankers South Africa. Mnisi holds a PhD in Leadership & Management, Masters in Business Leadership and a BCom Accounting degree. Has served and continues to serve as Board Chairman in several organisations.
