MBABANE- The King is expected to take the international podium today!

His Majesty King Mswati III is expected to address the United Nations General Assembly Session 77th (UNGA77) today at United Nations Headquarters at New York in the United States today.

The Eswatini King will be taking the podium today, which will mark the second day of the assembly.

The assembly commenced yesterday, where the His Majesty King Mswati III, together with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Thuli Dladla and Eswatini Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Thamie Dlamini were seen in attendance.

The King arrived in New York on Monday for the 77th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), which officially opens tomorrow. His Majesty is accompanied by Inkhosikati LaNgangaza.

The King’s address was confirmed on United Nations Eswatini (UNEswatini) social media pages, where nationals were encouraged to see broadcast on (Day 2) General Debate – General Assembly, 77th session | UN Web TV.

According to the United Nations website, the general debate of the seventy-seventh session of the General Assembly will held from Tuesday, September, 2022 to Saturday, 24 September, 2022 and on Monday, September 26, 2022, pursuant to resolution 57/301. World leaders will discuss global issues.

“The theme for this year is ‘A watershed moment: transformative solutions to interlocking challenges’   and has been proposed for the general debate at the seventy-seventh session, pursuant to resolution 58/126 (annex).

“Held at the beginning of each session of the General Assembly, the General Debate provides an opportunity for world leaders to deliver a statement on global issues,” stated the website.

 It was also revealed that the UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, would introduce the annual report (A/77/1) on the activities of the organisation at the opening of the general debate.
