MBABANE – “Japan has assisted Eswatini in a number of crucial areas and I strongly believe our relationship will continue to grow.”
These were the words of His Majesty King Mswati III when receiving letters of credence from the Ambassador of Japan to Eswatini, His Excellency Ushio Shigeru and India High Commissioner to Eswatini His Excellency N. Ram Prasad at Lozitha Palace yesterday.”
I hope you will invite Japanese tourists and business people to come and explore opportunities in the Kingdom,” said His Majesty to the Japanese Ambassador.
In his response, H.E. Shigeru said that Japan has been deeply committed to contributing to Eswatini’s priority areas such as education, healthcare, agriculture, food security and climate change through technical assistance, Grant Aid, and Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Project.
When speaking on the relationship between India and Eswatini, His Majesty thanked the country for the history of collaboration, especially in the recent years.
“Your support in Agriculture, ICT & Health towards emaSwati is highly appreciated. The invaluable support offered by India during the COVID-19 era did not go unnoticed. We therefore commit to assist India in its multilateral aspirations,” said His Majesty.
In his remarks to the King, the Indian High Commissioner thanked His Majesty for the support in helping the commission expand in the country.
“India’s relationship with the Kingdom of Eswatini is close, friendly and cordial. We wholeheartedly thank Your Majesty for the kind gift of a plot of land for constructing the High Commission,” said the Indian High Commissioner.
