MBABANE – Minister for Home Affairs, Her Royal Highness Princess Lindiwe, announced that the second edition of this year’s Buganu ceremony will take place from March 8 to March 10, 2024, at the Hlane Royal Residence.
The Minister provided further details about the ceremony and encouraged all members of the community to attend. This will be the second session of the Buganu ceremony, and it is a significant cultural and traditional event for the people of Eswatini.
Princess Lindiwe also relayed a message from the King and Queen, which included specific guidelines regarding the dress code for attendees of the Buganu ceremony. On Saturday, March 9, 2024, lutsango should wear traditional orange cotton lihiya, while on Sunday, March 10, 2024, the designated color for lihiya is red. These instructions are meant to ensure that the ceremony is conducted with respect and dignity.
The minister stressed the importance of following the designated dress code, stating that doing so would help to create the appropriate atmosphere for the Buganu ceremony. The event is a deeply traditional and spiritual ceremony, and it is important for all who attend to respect its cultural significance. The Minister also expressed gratitude to all who plan to attend and participate in the ceremony.
In addition, Princess Lindiwe asked attendees to avoid wearing colorful clothing, in accordance with the traditional dress code for the Buganu ceremony. She encouraged all lutsango to adhere to the guidelines in order to respect the spiritual significance of the event. Wearing colorful clothing, while common in many other settings, would be inappropriate for this ceremony.
