MBABANE – Laughter is the best medicine.
When in his company, you are guaranteed to laugh without him even trying. I always double check with him whenever I ask him if he is being himself or if he is being serious. He is known in the entertainment space as Ndosh WebeNgunee, born Mfundo Simelane.
Funny as he is, he has been bagging gigs left, right, and centre. He shared with us his highlights for 2023 and what was next for him. Ndosh is a uniquely talented stand-up comedian who can set any comedy room ablaze. It’s safe to say he is also into fitness, as he participates in marathons and charity walks. He has been nominated three times as Comedian Nominee of the Year, and nominated four times as M.C. of the Year nominee.
He said,” I’m from 2505, Manzini, Bremersdorp, the city they call hell, but that is where we dwell. I went to school at Evelyn Baring and Mhlatane High School. I started comedy the very moment I came to earth; I was already making people laugh before I could even talk, and some would give me odd kisses. It was tough being a new-born, and I don’t want to go back to that moment. I start commercialising comedy in 2014.”
When asked what he could advise an aspiring comedian, he said, “Read, watch the news, watch documentaries, and read again. The whole basis or science around comedy is to recreate an unfortunate scene, allow people to realise, “Actually, I’m not alone,” someone else is going through the same sticky situation, and then adds your humour.”
According to Ndosh, every industry has competition, but what’s important is knowing one’s style and niche and working on those elements to become different, attractive, and unique.
He has won multiple comedy competitions. He has opened the stage for global touring comedians, including Felix Hlophe, David Kau, Skhumba, Mathew Bozza, and TT Phasha, just to mention a few.
He went on to add, “I have a couple of favourite comedians, including Bernie Mac, Dave Chapelle, Richard Pryor, Bill Bur, David Kau, Eugene Khoza, Felix Hlophe, and Mdura. I’ve always wanted to share the stage with Felix Hlophe and David Kau; that happened, and I guess I am living my dream now. Kagiso Lediga most probably would be interesting to share the stage with.”
Ndosh has established himself as a standout headliner with his many stage appearances.
He is also the host of a few shows, including:
