MBABANE– South African award-winning rapper Nadia Nakai has promised to bring her fire this coming Friday.
The star will be in the country for the MTN BUSHFIRE Firefly Grand Finale to be held at House On Fire.
Taking to her social media pages, namely Instagram to announce and confirm her booking, the singer said she was looking forward to Eswatini’s talent and being part of the MTN bushfire experience.
“Cannot wait to bring my fire, Eswatini you are up I hope you are ready because I’m,” she wrote on her Instagram story which is accessed by over 100 000 people.
Nadia Nakai is a South African Hip Hop recording artist who grew up in Johannesburg. After attending high school in Kenya, she completed a degree in marketing communications and media studies at Monash University. Her family and heritage dates back to Zimbabwe where her origins lie.
After graduation, Nadia decided to explore the television industry and feature on SABC1, Battle Stations (season 1–3).
She presented and anchored the daily show – Daily Planet on PRTV and attended various events (SAMA’s; Metro FM awards; MTV EMAs in Spain; MTV awards) where she interviewed A-list guests. Then deciding to focus on her music career, she signed with Family Tree Media in 2016.
Meanwhile, while the MTN Bushfire Firefly music competition continues to be one of Eswatini’s most exciting projects, giving fresh young gifted, and free talent a platform to share their music with a wider audience.
Having supported over 80 artists to ignite their careers, Firefly now takes on a brand-new twist expanding the six-year-old series to new territories.
According to House on Fire Communications Officer Simon Dawson, this year, the youthful music launch pad opens its doors to both Eswatini and South African artists, creating expansive opportunities and a larger reach for artists looking to explore their musical careers.
“With the new inclusion of South Africa, the project will broaden artist recognition and listenership as their music will be shared on the MTN Ayoba platform, an innovative African music and chat platform accessible across the continent,” he said.
In addition, he emphasized that the MTN Bushfire Firefly competition is for those trailblazers who dream big and hustle hard. He said this vibrant competition creates a music space with no limitations for the youth to freely express themselves by sharing their musical creativity and lyrical authenticity.
“All up-and-coming vocalists, singers, and rappers were invited to submit their music recordings. The adjudication process involves a combination of expert industry judges and public online votes. Amongst the exciting prizes and new career opportunities, the three winners will perform at the internationally acclaimed MTN Bushfire 2023 Festival,” he added.
