LOBAMBA – His Majesty King Mswati III has called on the country’s maidens to conclude the Umhlanga Reed Dance celebrations at Mbangweni starting this Friday.
In a statement from His Majesty, as made by the Chief Maiden Nonduduzo Zuzu Zubuko, the maidens are requested to bring their reed on at the Mbangweni Royal Kraal on Friday, the 9th of September which is the date of registration.
“On the 10th, they deliver the reed. On the 11th is the main dance”, added Chief Maiden.
“Advice to the chiefs is that they need to provide four companions to the maidens to ensure that they are able to report anything that may befall the maidens back to their parents. Chiefs should advise maidens and their companions when they leave their constituencies,” remarked Chief Maiden Nonduduzo.
