MBABANE – On September 6, 2023 Imbali will have the honour of attending the 55/55 double celebration, which marks both the King’s birthday and Independence Day.
Yesterday His Majesty King Mswati III announced the registration day for Umhlanga which is August 29,2023.
The double event will bring together the entire nation in a joyous commemoration of their sovereign and the nation’s liberation.
“In preparation for the ceremony, King Mswati III issued a warning to Chiefs, urging them to release four men to accompany the maidens. These accompanying individuals will have the responsibility of overseeing Imbali and reporting to the relevant authorities should any of the maidens fall ill or require assistance,” Said Princess Sakhizwe on behalf of His Majesty.
Furthermore, in light of the upcoming coverage of the Umhlanga ceremony, both international and local media outlets were advised to exercise caution and verify facts before publication. The preservation of cultural authenticity and accuracy in reporting is of utmost importance.
“The Umhlanga ceremony not only showcases the rich cultural heritage of Eswatini but also serves as a platform to empower and celebrate the role of women in society. Nonetheless, as the nation eagerly awaits the culminating event of the Umhlanga ceremony, the atmosphere is filled with excitement and pride.
“The celebration of Eswatini’s cultural identity combined with the joyous festivities of the 55/55 double celebration promises to be a memorable occasion for all,” said the Princess.
