IMPROVED CONSISTENCY IN NATIONAL ELECTION REGISTRATION

…As 16 163 register in one day, women still in the lead.

MBABANE– Pilling officers stationed at the registering stations across Mbabane Town have mentioned that over the past five days there has been an improved consistency in registering.

They further mentioned that in the beginning they would only see back and forth numbers but as time went on they increased.

“People know and are comfortable with registering and exercising their rights. They are looking forward to casting their vote. We see the numbers increase every day,” said Thembelihle Magagula.

Worth noting is that yesterday over 16 000 people registered for the 2023 National Elections.

The Figures that were issued by the Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) showed that the overall number of people who have registered for the elections since May.

On Tuesday, there were 164 527 people who had registered. This means 16 163 people registered across the country yesterday.

In terms of genders, women still led the registration yesterday.

A total of 95 413 women had registered by yesterday and 9 065 registered by yesterday only. Around 85 277 males had registered yesterday and 7 098 registered yesterday only. Meanwhile the registration for the national elections will run until June 14, 2023.
