LUDZIDZINI– Multitudes of emaSwati joined the Royal Family at Ludzidzini Royal Residence yesterday for the fifth day of the little Incwala Ceremony.

The number of emaSwati according to the Ministry of Home Affairs is increasing as more people join the regiments and ensuring that the national prayer is a success.

During an interview with Eswatini Culture enthusiast Lusolotsha Ginindza, he said that the Incwala Ceremony was about cleansing, renewal and above all it was centred on Kingship in the Kingdom of Eswatini.

“Today we start the dance at around 5pm and a lot of people have been attending the dance which started five days ago. We encourage emaSwati to continue attending the national prayer,” said Ginindza.

According to Wikipedia, the main participant in the Incwala is the King of Eswatini. Without the King, ceremony cannot be held.

The sacred ceremony takes place over a period of about a month starting with the little Incwala (Incwala Lencane) and culminating in the big Incwala (Incwala Lenkhulu) also known as a national prayer and is held every year between December and January.

The Incwala is expected to last two weeks with the main day being held on January 2, 2023.
