MBABANE: Even though some media only choose to portray Eswatini as being in a non-existent war, an Indian hitchhiker did not let this phase him as he arrived in the country on his hitchhiking tour of all 54 African Countries.
Ansh Mishra is on a mission to travel to all 54 African countries without taking a flight. He left is home on February 2017, with only two bags, a cellphone and a camera. His budget is bootstrapped, as he does not book hotels or eat in expensive restaurants. He builds relationships with local good people who tend to host him and show him around.
Luckily for Mishra, the Eswatini Tourism Authority (ETA) has been very welcoming to him. The ETA organisied a press briefing for Mishra when he arrived in the country on January 8, 2022.
“Thank you so much Eswatini Tourism, Eswatini Government , Eswatini TV, HCI Mbabane, and Vakasha Eswatini – for welcoming, supporting, and hosting me in your beautiful motherland which I can feel, sense, and memorise since Day 1 till today”, elaborated Mishra on his Facebook page.
“I relay enjoy being in the country, I have experienced a warm welcome here in Eswatini. During my arrival and stay, exploring the beauty of the country, I have not been robbed or experienced any crime. The country is peaceful and welcoming, Eswatini is indeed a Switzerland of Africa” he said.
Mishra is the first Indian hitchhiker to walk throughout the entire Indian nation and is now aiming to cover the entire African continent. The ETA continues to guide Mishra as he visits the tourism hotspots in the country.
