MBABANE– Shiselweni youth will now benefit from equipment worth E1.5 million donated by the Taiwan and Eswatini government to the Insika Yensha YemaSwati Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Programme.
The handover of the equipment happened today at the Nhlangano Vocational Training Centre in the presence of the 21 youth beneficiaries, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs, as well as officials from the Taiwanese embassy among others. Speaking on behalf of the Ministry, Minister Harris Bulunga expanded on the problem which is addressed by the programme.
“This programme, The Insika Yensha TVET Programme, is one of several others that his Majesty’s government is currently pursuing which are all aimed at addressing a serious problem that we have as a country, which is youth empowerment and under-employment. We want to empower the youth to become not only key players in the country’s economy, but also ESO equip them with the relevant skills needed to become independent thinkers”, said the Minister.
“The programme in particular is very close to our hearts as a Ministry because it provides highly necessary aid to our trained vocational youth as they embark on a path of the TVET career aspirations. We all know how rugged the career terrain can get, and our youth need every assistance they can get to make sure that they are able to survive beyond training, and make a living out of the skills and qualifications”, said the Minister.
Taiwanese Ambassador to Eswatini, His Excellency Jeremy Liang, commended the spirit of cooperation which establishes such programmes as the Insika Yensha YemaSwati TVET Programm.
“The journey to a prosperity future, one cannot alone, and if we continue to collaborate and form partnerships, then we are bound to reach the destination sooner than we anticipate,” said Ambassador Liang.
The programme has been funded to the tune of E1.5 million through the Taiwan – Eswatini Cooperation Agreement.
The Insika Yensha YemaSwati TVET Programme has benefitted over 100 youth since its inception and operation through the Eswatini National Youth Council (ENYC). The youth can get more information about how to participate in the programme by visiting likusasakensha.org.
