MBABANE – “Our greatest musical exports are gospel.”
This was INSTACASH CEO Mandla Nxumalo’s observation when speaking at the presentation of a E15 000 cash gift by the company to the Association of Christian Artists of Eswatini (ACAESWA). The donation is earmarked for the Eswatini Gospel Music Awards 2022 scheduled for December 3, 2022.
Nxumalo said INSTACASH had noted that gospel artists are still recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic-instituted lockdowns, which significantly reduced their performance revenues. As such, INSTACASH resolved that supporting the awards was a no-brainer, along with the added benefits of gospel being the predominant genre of music in the country.
“We want to partner with emaSwati from different walks of life. A number of youth, which is our primary target market, participate in the gospel music industry. Gospel is the biggest genre of music in the country when compared to all other genres,” said Nxumalo.
Communications Officer for ACAESWA, Nhlanhla Mathunjwa, thanked INSTACASH for supporting the awards and the art of gospel in the country by extension.
“We take this opportunity to thank INSTACASH for supporting us towards the success of these awards,” said Mathunjwa.
Mathunjwa’s sentiments were echoed by Rock Solid Records and Events manager Nompumelelo Motsa. Rock Solid Records is the organisation which is helping in organising the 2022 Eswatini Gospel Music Awards. Motsa added that the organisation is also focusing on reducing Gender Based Violence, adding that INSTACASH’s support goes beyond gospel music in this case.
