… Praises beauty

MBABANE- A tourist destination!

This is the country, whose beauty and mountainous has been making tourists gush.

Barely two weeks after tourists who attended Umhlanga Reed Dance in the country complimented Eswatini’s beauty and beautiful culture, internationally renowned Political Economist Dr Roselyn Akombe visted the country.

The influential political guru and motivational speaker from Kenya posted on Twitter pages on Sunday, expressing how the country was beautiful. Here Twitter page has over 150 000 followers.

“This beautiful continent of our,” also said Akombe in her post, which had pictures of mountains in the country posted.

In September only, the country has seen thousands of tourists flocking in, with Swazi Rally and Umhlanga Reed Dance being the main attraction.

In an interview with this publication, the Minister of Tourism and Environment Affairs, Moses Vilakati, said the country was expecting more tourists, especially with Standard Bank Luju Lifestyle and Food Festival coming up.

Dr Roselyn Akombe is the Governance and Peacebuilding Regional Coordinator at UNDP’s Regional Service Centre for Africa in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, with additional offices in Dakar, Senegal and Nairobi, Kenya and serving  45 Country Offices.

She previously served as the Chief of Policy at the Policy and Mediation Division, Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs at the United Nations in New York. In 2017, Akombe served as a Commissioner with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC). She also previously worked with the African Union as an Economist. Akombe is an advocate for the protection of human rights, social justice, environmental protection and inclusion of youth and women in all political and socio-economic spheres of life.

Prior to her work with the African Union and the United Nations, she was active in the Kenyan student movement, civil society and the women’s movement.  She continued this work in the United States with WomenRising Inc. focusing on economic opportunities for black women.

Akombe supports several causes dedicated to social justice and the full involvement of youth and women in all aspects of life.  She holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Nairobi and Masters and Doctorate degrees from Rutgers University. Born in Kenya in 1976, she is a mother of two.
