MBABANE – Scammers advertise jobs the same way honest employers do online (in ads, on job sites, and on social media), in newspapers, and sometimes on TV and radio.
They promise you a job, but what they want is your money and your personal information. This is the same turmoil that EBC was recently found in
The Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) has strongly refuted and condemned a misleading and disrupting statement.
This statement is one that has been circulating for over two days now, where emaSwati are promised jobs.
“This is the ELECTIONS AND BOUNDARIES COMMISSION recruitment portal. Start an application now to see available vacancies and apply and work with us. Please the link below to start your application process. All Citizens are eligible to Apply. START APPLICATIONhttps://bit.ly/EBC-JOB-RECRUITMENT-PORTAL,” read the fake message that was being shared all over social media platforms.
EBC Communications Officer Mbonisi Bhembe said there was nothing as such. He further warned emaSwati of the scam and said they were not currently hiring.
“The public should vividly remember that application forms were last presented in February 2023. Over 7 000 unemployed Emaswati have been engaged to assist carry out the 2023 General Election. We are not hiring right now,” said Bhembe.
Bhembe said the circulating link was the work of bored and broke people who are taking advantage of the people currently unemployed.
He went to notify emaSwati that they should not fall prey to online scams.
“All companies announce formally when they are hiring and you should always know there will be no money required from you,” said Bhembe.
