MBABANE – The government will try and help The Luke Commission (TLC) overcome its challenges.
This was confirmed by the Minister of Health Mduduzi Matsebula when he toured The Luke Commission’s main facilities at Sidvokodvo in Manzini yesterday. The Minister was touring the facilities to get a first-hand impression of the work done by the Commission, as well as the challenges they have been facing in the past 7 months.
The Luke Commission’s Director, Echo VanderWal, emotionally narrated the upcoming challenges for the clinic.
“We will be undergoing further downscaling, we will send you more details around that in the next couple of days, but we ask that you continue in the spirit of our nation, in the promotion of peace,” said the Executive Director.
Minister of Health, Mduduzi Matsebula, reassured the organisation that the Government recognises the role they play in helping Emaswati, using innovation as a resource.
“We heard the challenges present here. It is important for the Government, through the Ministry, to come up with a plan to try and help The Luke Commission. We know that we have fiscal challenges and competing priorities as Government, however, it is important that we look into this issue because it complements what we are doing,” said the Minister after the tour.
The Minister also toured the Hlathikhulu Government Hospital to gain a deeper understanding of its inner workings, as part of an overall custom induction where he is analysing the health sector to better understand the Ministry’s priorities under his term.
