MBABANE – The Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy, in collaboration with JA (Junior Achievement), is set to launch an exciting three-month internship opportunity aimed at promoting female participation in the energy sector and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) fields.

This ground-breaking initiative is part of a broader effort to address the gender gap and create equal opportunities for women in traditionally male-dominated industries.

The applications are open until June 6 for any recent female graduate in science, technology, engineering or mathematics.

Recognising the importance of fostering diversity and inclusivity, the Ministry and JA have joined forces to provide aspiring young women with a unique chance to gain hands-on experience and valuable insights into the energy sector and STEM disciplines. Through this internship program, participants will have the opportunity to explore various career paths, develop essential skills, and ultimately contribute to shaping the future of these industries.

The Ministry’s commitment to empowering women and girls in Eswatini aligns with global efforts to bridge the gender gap in STEM fields and the energy sector. With the generous support of the World Bank, this initiative has become a reality, enabling aspiring female professionals to tap into their full potential and pursue rewarding careers in the energy sector.

As the call for applications opens, the Ministry and JA encourage all eligible young women with a passion for science, technology, engineering and mathematics to seize this opportunity, with a strong emphasis on equal representation and inclusivity.

This initiative aims not only to inspire women and girls, but also to encourage the broader community to support and advocate for gender equality in these sectors. By creating awareness and showcasing the achievements of female professionals in STEM and the energy sector, this internship program seeks to break down barriers and challenge stereotypes.
