MBABANE – The Jazz Gallery will celebrate International Jazz Day at the Mountain View International Hotel on April 30, 2024.
The second edition of Jazz Meets Opera is expected to kick off at 7pm.
This was confirmed by Nelisa Lawton of the Jazz Gallery today (April 12, 2024). When reached for comment, she said: “In an effort to make it up to you for the disrupted Jazz Meets Opera@The Residence concert, we will be staging it again on Tuesday, April 30 as we celebrate International Jazz Day at Mountain View Hotel in Mbabane.”
Lawton also mentioned that those who attended the previous show which was affected by the rain were offered a 50 percent discount for the make-up show, which means their ticket would cost E200.
She added: “We have let you know before the general public, so you have until Thursday afternoon to buy your ticket before sales are open to all. The discount is valid while tickets remain available. Thanks for your support for our fundraiser.”
The Jazz Gallery hosted a fundraising concert for Ekwetsembeni Special School on March 22 at the British High Commission Residence No. 15 at the Royal Villas. The fundraising concert was held to raise funds for a special needs school. Ekwetsembeni Special School. Lawton added that because of the rain last month, the band couldn’t perform live, hence the make-up show.
In a previous interview, Lawton shared with this publication that they visit the special needs school as part of their programme to teach music to the children who have special needs. They also play music for them, and they have now formed a choir with some of the students. Lawton went on to add that they spotted at least 17 students who are interested in music. The funds that would be raised at the concert are for buying music equipment like the PA system, drums, guitars, and keyboards for the students.
