The Minister had no doubt that Dlamini would be able to perform to expectations on her new role, having been a journalist herself. Khumalo said the expertise Dlamini gained while she was still a journalist would help her, as she performed in her new position.

Khumalo told her that she had a lot to learn on how Government functioned and expressed confidence that she would be able to learn and improve in her work. “We were told that you are passionate in your job and you are raring to go,” Khumalo said.

The Minister thanked Dumisile Maseko for holding fort as the Ministry’s Communications Officer, since the Ministry had no Communications Officer for quite a long time now. He said Maseko’s actual position in the Ministry was that of Information Officer. He said as a Ministry, they owed Maseko a lot for ensuring that the Communications department functioned in the meantime.

Dlamini holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Eswatini (UNESWA), which she obtained when she graduated from the institution in 2021. Khumalo said Dlamini is known in the media industry as someone who had been working as a journalist for Eswatini Observer.

Dlamini reported on Mbabane Magistrates Court matters for quite some time, while she was with Eswatini Observer. Last year, Dlamini was recognised as the most improved reporter by Eswatini Observer Managing Editor Mbongeni Mbingo. She was recognised together with some of her colleagues for doing well in other roles.
