MBABANE – Do not drink and drive!

The above message came out strongly from the Sincephetelo Motor Vehicle Accidents Fund (SMVAF).

SMVAF Fund Accident Prevention and Education Manager Dumisa Dlamini said their message was:

‘Khwesha emgwaceni ungabutsela ematfunjini’ loosely translated as don’t drink and drive, don’t walk along the road when you have consumed alcohol.

Dlamini said after an accident had occurred, drivers were blamed, while those who drank and walked on the road were absolved from blame.

Services (REPS) Senior Assistant Commissioner Wendy Hleta said the ceremony was also used to celebrate women in the country and show support to royalty.

Hleta said the brains behind the festivity were the Indlovukazi, who realised the need for an innovative idea for the women who could also make money out of the marula tree. She also emphasised the importance of preserving the marula tree in communities.

Meanwhile, it seems like it will be an exciting Buganu festivity, which will bring diversified festivities, spiced with the promotion of by-products of the fruit.

Eswatini Tourism Authority (ETA) announced the events during a live radio interview. ETA has partnered with Eswatini Secrets and Royal Villas, among others.

Also, ecstatic Lutsango member Rebecca Thwala analysed the marula fruit as a wholesome fruit, from which people can derive many products.

She said nothing went to waste when it came to emaganu (marula fruit). Thwala said from the fruit, they produced muffins and further used marula nuts to top up as raisings, jam, marula juice and marula vegetable, nuts and achar.

ETA Chief Executive Officer Linda Nxumalo stated that they would be a white marquee, which would offer food cuisines. She said Royal Villas and Eswatini National Trust Commission (ENTC) would be responsible for preparing food. She advised emaSwati to be on their best behavior and hospitable, as there would be tourists attending the event from Mozambique, South Africa and other countries.

Royal Villas Assistant General Manager Jabulani Khanyile said they would be offering affordable food cuisines, including buffet.

Khanyile said before members of the public consumed the marula brew (buganu), they should make sure that they had eaten something. She said Eswatini Secrets was producing products, including soaps, oils and moisturisers that were supplied to some of the local hotels.
