KING PROMOTES SIX SOLDIERS

MBABANE – Today is a great day for six members of the Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force (UEDF), as they have been promoted by His Majesty King Mswati III.

Among the six soldiers, four of them were promoted to the rank of Brigadier General. These include Ncanawe Dlamini, Sotsha Dlamini, Tshimpa Shongwe, and Elijah Shabangu. Shabangu was promoted in absentia, as he is attending training in the Republic of China (Taiwan).

Others soldiers who were promoted by the King include Thandumusa Dlamini and Mfanawenkhosi Khumalo. They were promoted to the rank of Major General and Lieutenant General, respectively. This happened yesterday during the celebration of the Army Day at the UEDF Headquarters in Nokwane. The UEDF was also celebrating its 73th birthday.

His Majesty the King delivered a key note address during this event. The King is also the Commander-in-Chief of the UEDF. The event was also attended by Her Majesty the Indlovukazi and other members of the Royal family. The event was also graced by former South Africa’s President Jacob Zuma and former Botswana’s President Lieutenant General Ian Khama.

Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini was also in attendance, together with Cabinet Ministers, Principal Secretaries, Under Secretaries, and other Government officials. During this event, His Majesty the King was shown the strength that the military of Eswatini had and he was impressed. He was of the view that with the strength the UEDF had, Emaswati could be thought to be safe in their country.
