KING SENDS CONDOLENCES ON BOTSWANA’S MORIA ACCIDENT

MBABANE – His Majesty King Mswati III has sent condolences to the Govenrment and the people of the Republic of Botswana, following the accident that happened to some of the Batswana who were on their way to commemorate the Easter services in Moria, in the Limpopo Province of South Africa.

The accident, which happened yesterday (March 28, 2024) claimed 45 lives. As a result, His Majesty the King, through Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini, saw it befitting that he sends comforting messages to the people of Botswana.

“I have it in command by His Majesty King Mswati III, to extend our deepest sympathies on behalf of His Majesty, Her Majesty the Queen Mother, the Government and People of the Kingdom of Eswatini, to the Government and People of the Republic of Botswana, following an accident that occurred when a bus ferrying worshippers to Moria lost control on a bridge near Mamatlakala in the Northern Limpopo province, resulting in the loss of 45 lives and one serious injury,” Dlamini said on his Facebook page.

“We pray for the deceased’s families and friends and hope the Almighty God will comfort them during this moment of great loss. We further pray for the safety of all travellers during this Easter period.”

According to News24, a South African news media outlet, it is understood that the bus was carrying pilgrims from Botswana to Moria for an Easter gathering. This is the first year since the pandemic that the Zion Christian Church, one of the biggest churches in the region, doing the annual Easter pilgrimage to Moria.
