MBABANE – His Majesty King Mswati III has issued a royal decree ordering the removal of mourning gowns as a gesture of respect and celebration for the upcoming 55/55 National celebrations.

The celebrations will be marking the King’s birthday and independence day. The announcement was made by Indvuna Themba Ginindza in a press conference held at Ludzidzini Royal Residence yesterday afternoon.

Much to everyone’s assumption the decision to suspend mourning for this special occasion reflects the joy, optimism, and progress that Eswatini has achieved over the past five and a half decades.

It is also a reminder of the resilience and determination of the nation’s citizens to build a prosperous future under the leadership of King Mswati III.

Indvuna Themba Ginindza, speaking on behalf of the king, emphasised the importance of the 55/55 National Celebrations as a time to unite and honour the milestones achieved by the nation. He expressed the king’s desire to see all citizens actively participate in the festivities and embrace the spirit of togetherness.

“Preparations for the 55/55 National Celebrations are at an advanced stage with various events and activities planned during the day. The festivities will feature traditional music, dance performances, cultural exhibitions, and a grand parade showcasing the achievements and progress made during King Mswati III’s reign,” said Ginindza.

He further said as the nation eagerly prepares for the upcoming celebrations, citizens are embracing the royal decree with enthusiasm and a sense of pride.

Ginindza said the removal of mourning gowns signifies the nation’s deep respect for its history and a collective commitment to building a prosperous future.
