MBABANE – His Majesty King Mswati III’s experience in public administration is vital in international meetings, hence it is important for him to attend them.

This was said by Government Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo today (Monday, June 17, 2024) on Eswatini TV’s Kusile Breakfast Show. Nxumalo mentioned that His Majesty the King had has been attending these summits since for many years now. Some have been arguing that he has been attending these summits since around 1986, when he assumed his status as a King.

According to Nxumalo, this made the King to be one of the most experienced Heads of State when it came to international relations. His experience, according to Nxumalo, came in handy for other Heads of State, who learned from the King’s experience. The Government mouthpiece said most of the Heads of State who attended these summits arguably had less experience than the King.

Nxumalo said the King attended these summits not only to address matters concerning Eswatini, but he attended these gatherings to work in collaboration with other leaders to make the world a better place. The spokesperson also highlighted that the King did not only attend the meetings to participate in international relations.

The King also attended such gatherings to look for investors who could come to the country to start businesses and create job opportunities to Eswatini and other parts of the African continent. He mentioned that when in the Republic of Korea (South Korea), the King went to many companies such as Hyundai, which manufactured automobiles. Nxumalo said those people expressed their desire to work in Africa.

Nxumalo said unemployment was something that the King wanted to eradicate. He also wanted to improve the political and economic climate of the country such that it could be easy for these projects to be done. Nxumalo also stated that it was not only the King (as a Head of State) who took part in these meetings. He made an example of Zimbabwe’s President Emerson Mnangagwa, stating that he was leading a delegation from Zimbabwe, which left after the Korea-Africa Summit to Russia, to attend other national assignments for that country.
