Motorists will this festive season enjoy better fuel prices as government has announced a recognisable decrease in fuel. However, those who will enjoy the new adjustments are diesel and paraffin users.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy Acting Principal Secretary Sicelo Nxumalo, the new prices will be effected tomorrow at midnight (7 December).
“The international oil prices continue to decline due to the persistent weaker demand. The Brent crude oil prices traded at an average of US$82.94 a barrel in November 2023 compared to the average of US$90.09 realised in the month of October 2023. This situation led to over-recoveries/profits in the local price of Diesel and Paraffin, necessitating the price decrease in the price of both Diesel 50ppm S and Illuminating paraffin. The Lilangeni/Dollar exchange rate appreciated and averaged E18.53 in the month of November 2023 compared to the E19.09 realised in the month of October 2023,” stated Nxumalo.
The new price of Diesel 50ppm S will decrease by E0.80 per litre, the price of illuminating paraffin will decrease by E0.50 per litre whilst the price of unleaded petrol 95 (ULP95) will remain unchanged.
