MBABANE– “Church leaders should not be quoted in GBV cases.”

This was said by church leaders in today’s Good Friday Services at Lobamba National Church.

The services are hosted by Their Majesties and emaSwati started flocking in in numbers yesterday.

Bishop Mavovo Mkhonto, in an interview, said Christians and Church leaders were the light of the world, according to the scripture.

“By virtue of being the light and the salt of the world, we are expected to do right and add value to people’s daily lives,” said Mkhonto

He then said it was said to learn that pastors were now butchering their wives.

“The reports we learn that Church leaders are beating their wives, adding to gender-based violence cases is saddening. We are not expected to assault anyone, let alone our partners,” said the Bishop.

He then urged Church leaders, preachers and Christians to desist from abusing anyone.

Mkhonto then urged emaSwati to attend Good Friday Services which are hosted by Their Majesties.

“Easter Season is time for us to revives our spirituality and to pray.

“Let us embrace the invite by Their Majesties and worship together as a nation,” said Mkhonto.
