MBABANE– “Kindness is a chain reaction. It’s a wave that keeps rolling, and all it needs is one person to start it,”

The above sentiments were shared by Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Themba Nhlanganiso Masuku during an interview with this publication.

Masuku said the country was currently engulfed with a lot of violence and killings, these he said emanated from not being kind to the next person.

He urged people to be at least kind and always be their brother’s keeper, and that one small kind act can cause a ripple effect that impacts an entire community.

“If we are all focused on being kind, we are creating a movement of change, be the change you wish the see in the world. It is bigger; it is about a movement that can be started by one person acting with intention,” he said.

In addition, he said Government cannot ill-afford this growing trend of criminality. As it has no place in society.

“Government also warns those who perpetuate these violent crimes to desist from doing so, as they are equally guilty. We note how social media is being misused as a platform to promote hate crime and violence by some individuals. Again, social media has become a haven for people to insult each other, including those in authority, as well as a vehicle for sending threats to others,” said Masuku.

The DPM further highlighted that it was a criminal offense, to insult someone on social media in accordance with the Computer Crime and Cybercrime Act 2022. The government will not hesitate to execute this act where necessary, particularly as there is a lot of incriminating evidence that accompanies these reckless acts of cybercrime he said.
