LEVERKUSEN ON TIP OF UNBEATEN SEASON

MBABANE – With only two games remaining in all competitions, German Bundesliga Champions Bayer 04 Leverkusen stands on the cliff of achieving an extraordinary achievement, completing an entire season without a single defeat.

As the curtains draw to a close on the 2023/24 season, all eyes will be on Bayer 04 Leverkusen, as they aim to cement their place in the archives of European football history. With the Europa League final looming and their Bundesliga invincibility already assured, the German giants are just two victories away from achieving the seemingly impossible undefeated season in all competitions.

Having already clinched the Bundesliga title, the German side has demonstrated remarkable resilience and consistency across domestic and continental competitions. Last Saturday, they were presented with the Bundesliga trophy after defeating FC Augsburg 2-1 on their last Bundesliga match. They become the first team in the league’s history to go unbeaten throughout the entire season, ending Bayern Munich’s 11 years reign as champions of German, as per reports in Bundesliga.com.

Under the guidance of Manager Xabi Alonso, Leverkusen’s success has been built on a solid defensive foundation, relentless attacking prowess, and an unwavering commitment to teamwork, they finished the league 18 points ahead of second placed Bayern Munich, recording 28 wins and six draws. They have recorded a 51 games unbeaten run in all competitions in the 2023/24 season.

The Bundesliga champions are two games away from legendary unbeaten treble, having reached the UEFA Europa League finals, where they will be facing Italian side Atalanta today (Wednesday, May 22, 2024), and the DFB Pokal Finals, whereby they will face 13th ranked 1.FC Kaiserslautern in German’s second topflight league (German Bundesliga 2).
