MBABANE – Lidwala Insurance has introduced a medical aid from as low as E200 per month to help ease the burden to the health system for Emaswati. The new product is called Lidwala Health, and makes Lidwala the sixth company in the country which is licensed to provide medical aid products.
Speaking during the launch, Lidwala Insurance CEO Dr Thokozani Nkambule said, “with the recent escapades of the pandemics, we have seen more need for us to come up with something that will respond to people’s needs. I’m sure we can all attest to the fact that COVID has made everyone realise that health is one of the most basic spends that every household needs to prioritize. So that is why we felt there was a need for us, not just for the current pandemic but even looking into the future.”
Speaking about the benefits of the new offering, Dr Nkambule stated that Lidwala believes that “if we have a healthy nation, then it is easy to grow the economy because people will be productive in their workspaces.”
He went on to add that, “every employer will now be able to at least subsidize an affordable medical employee for their employees. And, above that, our view is to make sure that the quality of healthcare in Swaziland improves. Because if you have a lot of people affording medical aid, it then means that the traffic of people going to a public hospital reduces – which automatically translates to a good nurse to patient ratio, which means the quality of healthcare afforded to the general liswati is better.”
The CEO also revealed that they have registered Lidwala Health medical aid to be accepted in all country’s public and private health institutions.
Great job Lidwala,we are proud of you guys. It’s very important to take good care of the health of the nation. I’m more than interested to join.
