This was revealed by His Majesty King Mswati III today when delivering his Speech from the Throne, marking the opening of the First Session of the 12th Parliament. The King made this revelation, much to the joy expressed by the legislators and others who were listening to his speech in the House of Assembly, where he was delivering it.

His Majesty the King expressed gratitude for the remarkable progress in the country’s health sector. He said this was testament to the country’s commitment to the wellbeing of Emaswati through expanded health services, life-saving medicnes, and successful vaccine implementation.

The King said the country’s goal was to strengthen the health sector and provide specialised medical care locally. He implored Government to expedite the commencement of the process of mobilising resources for the commencement of the construction of the national referral hospital, as promised by the friends of the country.

His Majesty the King commanded that the referral hospital should be constructed in the next financial year (2024/25).
