MBABANE – The Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, in partnership with the ESwatini Tourism Authority and the ESwatini Environment Authority, hosted the official launch of the World Tourism Month yesterday, 14 September 2023, with the theme “Tourism and Green Investments: Investing in People, Planet and Prosperity.”
The event was attended by key stakeholders in the industry, including the Minister of Tourism and Environmental Affairs Moses Vilakati.
The emphasis was on fostering sustainability in the tourism industry and encouraging young people to start businesses in the industry. The event also had organizations like Sedco, Youth Enterprise Fund, and Regional Development Fund offering assistance to students on how to obtain financial assistance for their businesses.
Minister Vilakati spoke about the importance of investing in prosperity through fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in green-themed projects. “Sustainable development is progress that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs,” he said. “It requires us to use resources wisely and to protect the environment.”
The launch of ESwatini’s World Tourism Month was a success, with young people from the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, ESwatini College of Technology, and tinkhundla centres attending. It was a great opportunity for the industry to come together and work towards building a sustainable and prosperous future for all.
