Re-elected Senate President, Lindiwe Dlamini.

Dlamini was nominated by Senator Prince Lonkhokhela shortly after the swearing-in ceremony for senators today. Prince Lonkhokhela emphasised that Senator Lindiwe Dlamini was the ideal candidate to preside over the Senate, as she had excellently executed the duties of the position of Senate President in the previous administration. He also highlighted that she was an experienced and educated leader, having served at different Ministries in Government, as well as running her own businesses successfully.

“It is also important that we consider succession as we elect our president, as there was a lot of work left in progress in the previous administration,” cited Senator Sicalisa Mdluli, who seconded the nomination of Lindiwe Dlamini as President of the Senate.
