MBABANE– Eswatini Rapper Louis Layne is creating nutritional healthy fruit juices that have been hailed as good as her killer rhymes.
When the rapper, real name Tessa Nxumalo, is not busy preparing for performances, she prepares juices that have seen her into almost every festival and markets flying off the shelves, the latest being at the Green Lifestyle Festival.
During an interview with this reporter, Nxumalo mentioned that she was humbled by the support and love she was receiving.
“I started making these juices for my son. I wanted something healthy and nutritious because he was sick at the time and I was trying to have him eat something.
“Thereafter it became a habitual thing and when friends came over I would pour them some. They are the ones who motivated me to take the juice production seriously and two years later here we are,” said the artist.
Nxumalo further explained the process of the juices.
“I create different juices every morning of about five different flavors and colors but the process is the same for all. Green is always sold out at events and I get more orders from parents for it.
“With the green fruit juice, for example, I use two apples, ginger, lemon, baby spinach, cucumber, celery leaves and stalk, water and blend these together. I then strain the juice into bottles and it is ready for consumption,” said Nxumalo.
She further mentioned that the health benefits were visible for consuming a healthy homemade juice. “Homemade juices do not have any added sugars or artificial sweeteners or colorants that juices from stores contain. They also boost your energy levels because it helps to cleanse your body, heal diseases and kill parasites. It is also good for people who want to lose weight in a healthier manner,” said Nxumalo.
