MBABANE -The community of Vuvulane will enjoy another act of kindness from Khulekani Msweli.
The above mentioned humanitarian, arts and design professional presented a piece of art called ‘The Afronaughts,’ which is found at the new Paul Msweli Youth Resource Centre.
Msweli gave his community this art which is a collaborative piece where he made the design and Eswatini based Zambian artist, Obed Chipwepwe painted it and it was all inspired by the artistic works of
Yinka Shonibare.
When sought for comment about the gift, Msweli said art was a crucial part of existence and the artists that created it had to be supported.
“So, it is always with great pride to be able to put money in the pocket of a fellow artist,” said Msweli.
Msweli further mentioned that there was an urgency and importance for them to see themselves in what would be considered for others.
“It is important for all the young people that will see this piece to know that they can dream to reach beyond the sky and that their dreams are valid even with their brightly coloured clothes, ‘khonzekhaya’ bag or ‘Ghana Must Go’ bag and babies on their backs, nothing is impossible to achieve,” said Msweli.
