MBABANE – Versatile and succeeding at it!
This is LiSwati producer, singer, composer, songwriter and pianist Nhlonipho Dlamini who has collaborated with Zimbabwean-born, South African-based music legend Oskido.
The artist has been making waves in South Africa from performing at big festivals like the 7th Jazz Premium Festival to being featured on The Insider SA.
In his recent endeavours, the producer has collaborated with Oskido, real name Oscar Mdlongwa, to produce his EP called ‘Ithuba’ which will be dropping this Friday.
When sought for comment on the collaboration, Dlamini, who is a St Paul’s High alumnus, said that he met the artist through his manager, Raphael Benza.
“The Extended Play (EP) is called ‘Ithuba’ and I am excited to announce that we are actually releasing it this Friday after three months of hard work. The EP has one song with two different versions on it,” said Dlamini.
Dlamini revealed that he produced the EP with DJ Oskido featuring vocalist Yolanda. Dlamini said working with Oskido was an arrangement where they would work annually for projects.
“Production is about inspiration and I find mine in African sound. I put it in every sound of every genre. Everything I produce has that signature sound and I believe that is why we are able to work together with DJ Oskido because we have a similar sound,” said the producer.
The producer went on to say his advice to future music producers from Eswatini would be to have an authentic sound for themselves.
According to Wikipedia, DJ Oskido was born Oscar Sibonginkosi Mdlongwa and is a South African recording artist, DJ, record producer and businessman.
