Ugaxo Couture Founder Lungelo Simelane mentioned to this reporter that he was excited about his new deal.

“I am really excited about this new deal and opportunity. Locally, I have had so many people support my designs- especially people in the music industry. I have worked with poet Senetisiwe, DJ Crooks, DJ Fantasy, Kena, and many more who always rock up on stage with different merchandise which has further brought business.

“I got this deal through hard work, marketing and dedicating all my energy into constantly finding innovative and sustainable ways to improve my products,” said Simelane.

Simelane further mentioned that he would be supplying on a small scale to the shop.

“The shop in South Africa is new and is called ‘Africa’s African’ and sells 100 percent recyclable and hand-made jewellery and material. The shop retails limited merchandise only so I will be supplying small scale.

“What attracted them to my product was a beaded watch which a shopper from Eswatini was wearing. They reached out to me and asked to work with me by supplying them with beaded watches and beaded sun shades,” said Simelane.

Simelane further mentioned that he had an online show where he taught others how to create products using recyclable products.

“I had the online show when COVID-19 started so that I impart a skill to someone who might have really needed it at that time. COVID-19 helped me push a lot of boundaries and right now my end goal is to go globally or internationally,” said Simelane.
