MBABANE– Social media proves to be a fruitful ground for entrepreneurs.
Local business owners are becoming robust in marketing and selling their products using social media platforms like Facebook.
The Chairperson of the Federation of Eswatini Business Community (FESBIC) Johannes Manikela revealed social media had proven itself an efficient platform in marketing while saving costs for entrepreneurs.
“The marketing strategies, through social media, have yielded good results and have cut a lot of business-related costs for entrepreneurs. These costs include rent, transportation (most products are sourced from South Africa), invoice delays, and most importantly time. These are some of the problems that have been overcome,” said Manikela.
Manikela further mentioned that social media marketing had yielded good results for business owners.
“This is a gap business owners have very recently tapped into but is already yielding good results. Most farmers are old and do not understand the power of social media. This is why we (FESBIC) have gone the extra mile in teaching its members and business people how to set up and use these platforms to market and sell their products quicker,” said Manikela.
Manikela further mentioned that a lot of business owners had owned up to the task and are seeing the results. “When you go through various social media pages, you can find various businesses in the country. You can find poultry, livestock, fruits, and vegetable businesses. All these businesses come with their location, numbers, and prices.”
