MBABANE- Local scientists are making big strides.
A new bat species has been discovered by two University of Eswatini (UNESWA) Biology students alongside their supervisor/lecturer, Dr Ara Monadjem, who made this known in his Twitter account.
The students are Mnqobi Mamba and Sihle Magagula.

According to Monadjem, Eswatini has a new bat species which boasts a siSwati name Neorimicia hlandzeni.
“Finally we have a name that we, emaSwati, can pronounce. Thanks to a wonderful collaboration including Peter John Taylor, Mnqobi Mamba and Sihle Magagula,” said Monadjem.
UNESWA Registrar Dr Salebona Simelane confirmed the discovery, saying this was a great stride for the country and institution.
“We are still planning on an official sit-down with journalists with regards to the discovery where the scientists can give in-depth details,” said the registrar.
