“This is massive for me. It has been a massive challenge, especially mentally, to push myself past barriers and test myself against really amazing cooks but is a huge honour,” said Bhengu.

He said he was known for being a performing artist but wanted to put his culinary skills to the test and introduce his other side to the public.

Bhengu further mentioned that he started cooking at around the age of 13 since he was the eldest child in the house and he used to watch his father create incredible dishes.

“I would play around with different flavours and in return I found myself a new passion. This not only showed me that cooking is not for a specific gender but also that men can love cooking and do it just as well as anyone else,” said the artist-aspiring cook.

Bhengu closed off by saying he had really big plans for his culinary skills but he would not reveal it just yet.

“Winning this would be confirmation of the famous saying ‘Never be afraid to reinvent yourself’ and I always say that God is the master architect, He knows why I have a vast and unique skill sets,” he said.
