MBABANE– With only two days left to go for the Buganu Ceremony, which will be held at Buhleni Royal Residence, the Lutsango regiment is advised to register with their chairpersons (Tindvuna) in their respective Tinkhundla.

Lutsango Secretary Joyce Gama emphasises the importance of registering so that they can know which inkhundla one is from in case of an emergency or when there are situations that are not in line with what they stand for, and to avoid embarrassing situations.

Speaking on the Kusile Breakfast Show today, Gama asked Lutsango who had not registered to do so as there was still time. She said registration would be important to make sure there were no problems in this event, which will also be attended by Their Majesties. “His Majesty King Mswati has summoned Lutsango for the national ceremony, which will last the whole weekend. It is our tradition that we fond as Emaswati,” Gama said.

Gama advised Lutsango to listen to warnings from their respective tindvuna for the ceremony to go accordingly. “The patron is Her Majesty the Indlovukazi, followed by Bandla Ncane and Indvuna Yelutsango, who sadly passed away, and then the regional coordinators, who coordinate all the regions,” she said.

She added: “We ask for respect as Lutsango; they should heed the warnings from their tindvuna and take instructions from them. This goes for when they leave their tinkhundla; they must heed the times that have been communicated to avoid arriving at night.”

She also spoke about the recent outbreak of cholera and how they put measures in place to make sure Lutsango was safe. “We have invited the relevant ministries, including the Health Ministry, to come and teach Lutsango about how best to avoid the spread of cholera. They will teach us about cleanliness and the importance of washing fruits before consumption and washing your hands after using the toilet,” Gama narrated.

Gama highlighted why it was important for the women to meet, as they not only network and catch up, but they also share ideas on issues. She also shared that the ceremony is not about dancing and presenting gifts to Their Majesties; it is also a place where they learn as they have a programme when they have invited different ministries to educate them.

“We have invited the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Trade to teach about business as well as the Information, Communication, and Technology (ICT) Ministry to teach us about cyber bullying, which is rife as they target women,” she said.

She also asked Lutsango to avoid queuing for gifts and food unless it was time to do so, and they had been advised by Tindvuna to avoid stampedes and disorder.
