MADLANGEMPISI – Despite the ongoing political tension caused by the calls for ‘democracy in the Kingdom of Eswatini, some constituencies have thrived in bringing further development.
One of these constituencies is Madlangampisi.
In August, which is a month after the unrest that almost brought the country to a standstill, this constituency continued with the implementation of projects that are aimed at boosting Small, Medium Entrepreneurs, especially women-run businesses. In fact, the view was to enable sustainable entrepreneurship at the grassroots level.
Eswatini Positive News has gathered that government, through microprojects, has successfully constructed three markets across the Madlangempsi constituency. The markets, combine, are worth E10 million and will house over 75 vendors. The unique structure is located at Sihhoye, Madlangempisi, Zandondo, and Dvokolwako.
Mduduzi Mbambo, a Development Officer from Mavula, said the new structures have brought hope to entrepreneurs under his community and that they are excited that they will now have proper structures for their wares. Mbambo disclosed that the market will benefit at least 50 SME at Sihhoye but for now 25 have been allocated space while the rest will benefit from phase two of the project. He stated that E636 000 was approved for the construction of the Sihhoye market but the project has extended to other communities.
“The construction of the markets will definitely change or develop the lives of the vendors here because they now have proper structures. In fact, through their businesses they are able to feed their families and further pay school fees for their children,” Mbambo said.
Meanwhile, Madlangempisi Member of Parliament Sibusiso Scorpion Nxumalo said they are grateful to government for the implementation of these and projects.
“We hope to have all the markets operational by the end of December 2021. We have made progress in Sihhoye, Madlangempisi is at 90 percent complete and Dvokolwako is lagging behind with 25 percent complete,” he said.
MADLANGEMPISI – With schools preparing to re-open anytime soon, over 2000 residents of Manzana under the Madlangempisi constituency are patting their constituency council on the back for successfully completing a service bridge that had been grounding activities in the area.
After years of frustration, the Nconcodvwane Bridge, which connects Manzana and Dvokolwako, has become one of the government projects that has brought a sigh of relief to residents under this constituency, thanks to its council which is led by MP Sibusiso Scorpion Nxumalo.
Eswatini Positive News has established that over 400 pupils who stay in communities across the bridge were usually grounded and forced not to attend school during rainy days.
The affected pupils included those attending Manzana Nazarene Primary and Zwide Primary school. Also affected, were those attending Dvokolwako High School.
According to Steven Mavundla, Bucopho of Manzana, the construction of the bridge began in April 2021. This was after MP Nxumalo and Mavundla approached the Ministry of Public Works and Transport to file a proposal.
“When we arrived at the ministry, they gave us an engineer who then went to survey the area and compiled a report. Indeed, a contractor was awarded a tender and the construction started,” he said.
He continued: “We are very grateful to government for committing itself and making sure that we get a new bridge. Prior to the construction, the road was inaccessible and over 2000 residents were affected,”
Mavundla explained that communities that were affected included Mabiya, Ngojeni, Sigodzini, Mhlosheni, Manzana, Lezimbili and Mnjoli
Meanwhile, MP Nxumalo said service delivery is one of the key things that he, and his council, are thriving to achieve. He said they are working very hard to implement projects that will bring development to the constituency.
“We are grateful that government is doing its best to provide funding and all necessary help to bring development in the constituency,” he said.
