MBABANE– The second edition of the Makoti Festival is making now waves in Neighbouring countries and Mozambican Makotis are gearing up for the Festival.
The festival will be held in Malkerns Country Club on April 29, 2023.
The organising team met with Vice Minister of Arts and Culture in Mozambique and also held press conference to promote the festival over the Easter Holidays.
When sought for comment, Committee Member Thembinkosi Mthethwa mentioned to this reporter that meeting the Vice Minister was very fruitful.
“We met with the Vice Minister of Arts and Culture in Mozambique for cultural exchange and to promote our art. Through this meeting we were able to increase our Makoti Festival global profile as we got the chance to visit the local TV station in Maputo as well as hold a press conference about the festival.
“The meeting was very fruitful and we now have more Makotis in Mozambique who will be joining emaSwati for the beautiful festival,” said Mthethwa.
Today the Makoti Festival Organising Team is currently in South Africa in the Mpumalanga Province launching the festival through media conferences.
The festival is the brainchild of New Life Entertainment, together with the Illa Penboy Foundation, who has seen a glaring gap in the celebration of modern Women, in particular married, unmarried and the young girls who aspire to be a proud makoti in the near future.
“At this event, the whole family will come out to play and network, while also selling wares, dressed in African inspired clothing creating a buzz for lifestyle, fashion, food and music,” reads a statement by the committee.
Today, the official line-up for the festival was released on the Makoti Festival page.
South African musician Sjava will head-line the festival and will be joined by Shwi, Hlengiwe Mhlaba, Juliana De Sousa, Maneto, DJ Menko, Perddy Nkosi, DJZoe, Futhi Mhlongo, Chantel M, Khwanny, Mzwa, DJ Cup, Ezamaswazi, Spirits Indigenous, Ngwana, Mvelo, Floewe and Lebombo.
