MALINDZA REFUGEE CENTRE TO RECIEVE SUPPORT FROM U.S. EMBASSY

MBABANE-There is light at the end of the tunnel for refugees at Malindza as the U.S. Embassy in Eswatini is working on means to support the camp.

This comes after Charge d’affaires Earl Miller met with the Malindza refugees over the weekend.

The Ambassador toured the Refugee Centre with representatives from the U.S. Department of State:  Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration, government, UN partners, World Vision, and others.

In his speech, Miller mentioned he was very interested in what was being done at the camp and further stated that the U.S. Embassy wanted to support the work done by the Eswatini Government.

“This is my first visit to the Malindza Refugee Centre and I am very interested to listen and learn about all that is being done here and how the United States can support the incredible work of the Eswatini Government and its partners,” said the Ambassador.

On March 31, 2023, this publication reported about the positive assistance that the camp received. About 400 refugees received food parcels at Malindza Reception Centre donated by the Manzini Muslim Community led by Sheikh Bulamu. The donation comprised of 10kg maize meal, 5kg sugar, 2litre cooking oil, salt and soup packages.
