EZULWINI: On a winning streak!
This rings true for Thulani Mshoza Mango, who was announced as the overall winner of the MTN Lula Competition worth E25,000.
It is worth mentioning that this was not the first time Mango won the competition in October; he also won the E5000 weekly combo competition.
Today, Mango walked away with E30,000 in total, as he also won the E5,000 weekly competition. The announcement of the winners took place at MTN Headquarters today. Luhla Dlamini won the E5000 weekly competition.
Mango, in his thank-you speech after receiving his cheque, revealed that after winning in October, he kept his promise that he would give away 10 per cent to a charity of his choice, which he chose not to reveal. He also shared that he believes this is one of the reasons he was announced as the overall winner of the grand prize.
The presentation of the cheque was done by Acting Chief Marketing Officer (ACMO) Mandla Gule, who shared that MTN launched the Lula Competition in September 2023 as a response to customer feedback for more value-adding promotions.
He said, “Through this competition, MTN has demonstrated a commitment to ensuring that customers derive additional value from both data and voice services. The competition was well received by our customers who opted in and participated, with 46 of them winning amazing prizes since September.”
Gule went on to say that Malume Lula (the mascot) and his team have travelled across the country, delivering good news to winners. “We appreciate you, Malume Lula, for spreading smiles and bringing much-needed financial relief to our customers.”
According to the ACMO, so far, the following prizes have been awarded to their customers:
14 x E5, 000 MoMo
8 trolley dashes to the value of E5,000
Airtime and MoMo Agents:
8 x E2, 500; 8 x E1, 500; 8 x E1, 000
It is worth highlighting that for the grand prize, the competition ran for two months, and in the last month, MTN introduced an E25,000 grand prize to be won by a customer that has doubled their points and has the highest points. The competition closed today.
Gule concluded his speech by congratulating the winners and thanking them for participating in the Lula Competition.
