During an interview with Kunene, he also further noted that the interchange had created a great improvement in the level of service and road safety as there were spots that were known for accidents.

“The level of service has been greatly improved and even the areas that were known as ‘blank spots’ are, have now been fixed accordingly. There was also the issue of trucks overturning which has now been cleared as well with the development of this road,” said Kunene.

Kunene elaborated that the development of the road had reduced the travelling time as the interchange promoted interconnectivity from people coming into the country from South Africa and Mozambique, which he said would boost the economy’s tourism industry and lower fuel costs.

“Walk-ways and a pedestrian foot bridge were also built and for pedestrians to be able to cross the road well. This bridge is also inclusive of people living with disabilities to ensure their accommodation as well,” said Kunene.

The project manager stated that he was very happy with the quality of the roads as this was a great achievement for the country. He further mentioned that even though challenges were faced due to circumstances that were out of their control such as the weather, they were able to see to the completion of the project.
