MBABANE – “Indeed, the responsibility to sensitize each other against littering lies with all of us.”

This was the Municipal Council of Manzini’s response to one of the numerous praises by Manzini residents on the municipality’s procurement of 200 street litter bins. The Municipal Council of Manzini took to social media to publicise the procurement of the concrete bins.

“They’ll be properly branded and thereafter placed on various streets within the Central Business District. The Municipality’s goal is to make vibrant Manzini a litter-free city,” read part of the statement from the Municipality.

The further urged the public to please make use of the litter bins and to desist from littering.

Manzini residents responded very positively to the development, with one Facebook user saying that it was long overdue.

Siyabonga kakhulu, hope our town will be clean plus Kombi association will assist in educating about zero litter #keepmanziniclean (verbatim),” said one user responding to the Municipality’s statement.

“Atleast the Bantu youth will not be able to steal them ngoba hhayi mani they are stealing main hole covers inside the yard and in the streets, well done (sic),” said another user on Facebook.

The street litter bins, which were supplied by Brickon, are expected to last for a long time as they are made of concrete, which means that they will survive weather conditions as well as possible acts of vandalism for longer.
